Ethics and Integrity
SIIL’s ethics are governed by our Code of Conduct and Human Resources policies, which offer a comprehensive set of rules and regulations addressing matters of integrity, corruption and set out the highest standards of professional conduct for all employees.
These include the prohibition of conflicts of interest, accepting bribes or gifts, the prohibition of the unauthorised use and preservation of Company assets and the prohibition of all practices deemed illegal in Qatar.
The Company also prohibits the Chairman and the members of its Board of Directors, its Executive Directors and all its employees from taking advantage of any information they may have come to know as a result of dealing in shares of the Company, for their own interest or the interest of their immediate relatives.
CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY INITIATIVES
The SIIL Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) strategy is based on the Qatar National Vision 2030, especially the Economic Pillar, which aims to “transform Qatar into an advanced society capable of achieving sustainable development”.
Our CSR strategy is also rooted in our vision to become one of the most successful public companies in Qatar, as well as a leading example for all family businesses in the region.

SIIL came forward as a sponsor of the Belgian King’s Day reception at the Belgian Comics Exhibition and Ajyal festival.
These revolved around the theme of the Belgian Comics and in particular the Smurfs ahead of their 60th anniversary in 2018 in cooperation with the Doha Film Institute.

SIIL made donations to Qatar Society for Rehabilitation of People with Special Needs.
Resulting from our support, the organization was able to conduct workshops, training programs related to media and information for the members who were part of the rehabilitation process.
The Qatar Society for Rehabilitation and Special Needs is a non-government funded organization that primarily provides integrated care for children and young adults with special needs and disabilities.
Its objectives are numerous and diverse, depending on the requirements of the individual, and the center welcomes all abilities.

The Best Buddies Initiative-Qatar is a nonprofit organization dedicated to enhance lives of people with intellectual disabilities by providing opportunities for one-to-one friendships and integrated employment.
Established in 2008 as a special project of Her Highness Sheikha Moza Bint Nasir and under the umbrella of Shafallah Center, Best Buddies Initiative-Qatar provides socialization opportunities for people with intellectual disabilities throughout Qatar.

The ‘Made in Qatar’ exhibition is the largest industrial event of its kind in the country, organized by the Qatar Chamber, in cooperation with the Ministry of Energy and Industry.
Since its inception in 2009, the event has been held under the kind auspices of the Emir HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and is supported by a bevy of leading industrial companies and factories, banks and institutions in the country.
The event represents a major industrial platform that brings together local companies and factories under one umbrella. It also offers a brilliant opportunity for manufacturers, businessmen and investors to discover locally manufactured products, strengthen their offerings and to meet the demands of the Qatari market.
The main purpose of the exhibition is to support and promote the Qatari products in the pursuit of achieving the self-sufficiency and reducing dependence on imported items.

Salam International, The Gate Mall and many Palestinian youth groups of activists stood up together to organize the “A Story of a Century” exhibition at the Maysaloun Hall from November 1 until November 13, 2017.
The Exhibition contained a valuable collection of photographs that tell the story of the Palestinian people 100 years ago.
It illustrated Palestine’s history including portraits, illustrations of the city, civilization, historical moments and various professions of the Palestinian people. This unique collection, ranging from 1900 until 1967, demonstrated the rights of the Palestinian people to a country that they have built and had for centuries.
The photo collection belongs to Mr. Issa Abdulsalam Abu Issa, the Chairman of Salam International. Visitors enjoyed many interactive activities, which enabled them to relate deeply to the subject matter.
A photo booth of The Dome of The Rock, and an interactive statue of Al Aqsa Mosque and a Visual Reality 360 were provided by Al Jazeera Media Network. This exhibition was part of many other activities that took place during the week of ‘Ma Nseena – We Did Not Forget’.
Palestinian youth activists offered games, workshops, seminars, movie shows and a ‘Tweeting Room’ was available for people to further interact and learn more about the illegal Balfour promise and its devastating effect on Palestine and the Palestinian people.
The Philippine Embassy, in conjunction with Katara Cultural Village, launched the photography exhibition titled 'Qatar through Filipino Lenses'.

The exhibition featured the works of 32 Doha-based Filipino photographers and was part of the embassy's initiative to promote the Philippines and the Filipino culture. The photo exhibition ran from August 17 to August 27 2017, 10 am to 10 pm at the Katara Cultural Village.
On the 14th of February 2017, SIIL celebrated Qatar National Sport Day. The event is held across Qatar with the objective of promoting a healthy lifestyle among its population.
Since the launch of the first National Sport Day, which was held in Qatar in 2012, SIIL has supported the initiative wholeheartedly.
We believe, as the nation does, that our people must practice a healthy and balanced lifestyle. We are proud that by declaring this national initiative, Qatar has become one of the few nations to dedicate a public holiday devoted to the practice of sports.

The event was held at the Qatar National Convention Center from March 6-8 under the theme ‘Qatar Towards a Smart Future.

Continuing its long tradition of supporting youth and investing in the development of the fashion industry, Salam Studio & Stores stepped up to host the 18th Annual Virginia Commonwealth University in Qatar (VCUQ) fashion show at The Gate Mall’s Maysaloun Hall.
Collections by students from the university’s Fashion Design program were on display during ‘Appliqué’, a two-day fashion show on April 12 and 13, 2017. This unique show, which featured the collections of 22 sophomore, junior, and senior fashion students, was opened by Sandra Wilkins, VCU Qatar’s Chair of Fashion Design.
The title of the 2017 fashion show was Appliqué’, which depicts the building of talents and skillsets, while showcasing the ability of students to take a concept all the way through to completion.
The Salam Fashion Award was presented to Radheya Visperas. The award includes mentoring in the development and design of two bespoke collections to be sold exclusively within a dedicated space in Salam Studi0 & Stores, Doha.
SIIL was pleased to sponsor Al Shaqab’s equestrian competition, ‘Hathab. In an effort to popularize the equestrian sport in Qatar, Al Shaqab and Qatar Equestrian Federation joined forces to start a new series of equestrian competitions.
Hathab is a series of 12 competitions to determine the most consistent performer among horse riders in Qatar. Results of the competition will be use in the selection process of riders to represent Qatar in international competitions. ‘Hathab’ means ‘Canter’ in Arabic. It is aimed at improving the standard of horse riding among Qatari youths while encouraging the involvement of private stables and individual horse owners to grow awareness of horsemanship as part of Qatar’s history and tradition.

On the 23rd of May 2022 and 7th of September 2022, SIIL made a meaningful contribution to Qatar’s blood donation drive launched by Hamad Medical Corporation. SIIL encouraged the group’s employees and visitors alike to donate blood at its retail shopping destination, The Gate Mall, West Bay.
The blood donation drive was effortlessly carried out by staff from HMC’s Blood Donation Unit, which constituted a team of highly experienced medical professionals, nurses and consultants. The campaign was also supervised by dedicated staff from The Gate Mall, where donors were expertly guided through the process of blood donation. The Blood donation drive comes as part of the corporate social responsibility strategy of both Salam International and The Gate Mall. It aims to encourage employees to help save a life by donating blood, and making a difference in the community. Furthermore, the initiative also reflects the strong collaboration that Salam International and The Gate Mall have fostered with Hamad Medical Corporation, to contribute towards the welfare of the residents in Qatar.

Qatar Cancer Society is a charity that was founded in 1997. It works under the Regulatory Authority for Charitable Activities. Qatar Charity’s mission is to prevent cancer and reduce its burden in Qatar through working with partners in educating the community, and to support, empower and advocate for people living with the disease, and to engage in professional development and scientific research in the field of cancer.

GOALS is a special initiative that will tell the story of the impact of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 by the people who experienced it themselves. It is a photographic exhibition showcasing unique content from completely different perspectives. This exhibition will be supported by a purpose driven program that aim to educate and inspire the next generation of storytellers.
